Abundant mineral resources: there are three main types, metal, non-mental and energy, about 80 kinds of minerals have been discovered among which 44 of their storage capacities have been revealed. The reserves of tin, antimony, fluorite and gold are first in Jiangxi Province; copper, is second; tungsten, is third. Limestone, quartz sand, marble, granite, porcelain clay and others are very rich. The value of the mineral storage is over RMB 100 billion yuan. Since 1990, the city has entered the list of ten thousand Liang gold city, RuichangYangjiMountain and XiushuiTulongMountain are the main production bases.
Abundant plants resources: The forests are mainly dispersed in the Jiuling and Mufu mountain ranges of west Jiujiang with an area of 857,000 hectares and a 46.3% of forest coverage, the total storage amount of live trees is 25,380,000 cubic meters and the total number of Mao bamboo is 61,960,000. There are 37 kinds of rare trees, which are under the country¡¯s key protection, including Chinese larch, camphorwood, Eucommia ulmoides, ginkgo, ctyptomeria and so on. There are three national forest parks, and four provincial forest parks.
Animals resources: There are 115 kinds of migratory birds, 11 kinds of amphibious animals and 20 kinds of mammals.126 kinds of migratory birds spend the winter here, including more than 840 white cranes and 3000 swans, the greatest number of both in the world. Thus it is called ¡°the Second Great Wall¡±; About 150 spotted deer in Taohongling, PengzeCounty. There are 109 kinds of fish including Chinese sturgeon, Yangtze hilsa herring, shrimp tiger fish, Pengze crucian carp etc., and Chinese claw crab is also one of the special kinds.
Water resources: The total water resources of Jiujiang are 14,180,000,000 cubic meters with 13,650,000,000 cubic meters of surface water resources and 329,000 kilowatts of exploitable hydraulic power. The total length of the Yangtze River in Jiujiang¡¯s territory is 151km with a total annual flow of 890,000,000,000 cubic meters per year. The total drainage area of the rivers that flow into the Yangtze River is 3,904 square km, there are 10 lakes which are above 10,000 mu (about 670 hectares) and 31 lakes above 1,000 mu (about 67 hectares). Zhelin Reservoir is the biggest reservoir in Jiangxi province with a storage capacity of 7,920,000,000 cubic meters.53% of the water area of PoyangLake is in the territory of Jiujiang with an area of 3 million mu (about 201000 hectares). |
