Reporter learned from the Jiujiang Port and Shipping Administration Bureau that in recent years, Jiujiang Port has actively leveraged its water transport advantages by opening new shipping routes, improving efficiency, and enhancing services. These efforts have facilitated smoother import and export channels for both domestic and international trade, driving the high-quality economic development of Jiujiang through improved logistics connectivity.
Jiujiang Port, in collaboration with Wuhan Port, has successfully launched a new shipping route to Japan, reducing transit time by 5 days and cutting logistics costs by 50% compared to traditional river-sea intermodal transport. Additionally, together with Yueyang Port, it has opened a route to Russia, shortening delivery times by 6 to 8 days and saving logistics costs by $1,000 per TEU. The launch of these two routes has helped enterprises cope with persistently high shipping freight rates and container shortages, while aligning with the Yangtze River Economic Belt’s requirements for differentiated and intensive port development and promoting regional cooperation among Hunan, Jiangxi, and Hubei provinces.Furthermore, Jiujiang Port has innovatively adopted a direct-shipping model to facilitate the export of newly built vessels as whole ships, significantly reducing logistics costs compared to traditional methods and highlighting the port’s advantages in openness and efficiency. In terms of expanding international shipping channels, Jiujiang Port has established three major maritime shipping routes via Shanghai, Taicang, and Nanjing, significantly improving the efficiency of river-sea intermodal transport. The premium "Daily Service" route between Jiujiang and Shanghai has been further accelerated. The Jiujiang-Yangshan route has increased to over 5 sailings per week. The "Shanghai-Jiujiang Express" service to Waigaoqiao now operates under an alliance-based cabin-sharing model, with a frequency of 6 sailings per week. These upgrades provide more efficient and stable logistics support for regional supply chains.
Meanwhile, Jiujiang Port has upgraded the "Nanchang-Jiujiang-Shanghai" logistics platform, centralizing the allocation and management of shipping capacity between Nanchang and Jiujiang. This has increased the frequency of the Nanchang-Jiujiang route to 14 weekly sailings.Additionally, new container routes have been launched, including Jiujiang - Poyang Jiaozikou Port (Shangrao) route and Ji'an - Nanchang - Jiujiang route. These initiatives promote the aggregation of cargo from across Jiangxi Province at Jiujiang Port through integrated road-rail-water transport networks. To enhance container vessel turnover efficiency, the Jiujiang Port and Shipping Administration Bureau has collaborated with the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Transport to implement priority lockage management measures for vessels operating on high-grade waterways. This policy further optimizes the regional logistics environment.
