Acting U.S. Consul General in Wuhan Visits Jiujiang

On March 30, Kyle Curd, Acting U.S. Consul General in Wuhan, led a delegation to visit Jiujiang. Du Shaohua, Vice Mayor of Jiujiang Municipal People’s Government, and Duan Qiang, Director of the Jiujiang Foreign Affairs Service Center, met with and accompanied the delegation during the visit.



During their stay, the delegation visited a number of sites with historical ties to the United States, including Tongwen Middle School, Jiujiang Maternal and Child Health Hospital (formerly the Danforth Memorial Hospital), the former site of the Kuling American School, the former residence of Pearl S. Buck, and Meilu Villa. Through these visits, the delegation reviewed the history of friendly people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States, and gained a deeper understanding of Jiujiang’s longstanding connection with the United States.


On behalf of the CPC Jiujiang Municipal Committee and the Jiujiang Municipal Government, Vice Mayor Du Shaohua extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He briefly introduced Jiujiang’s rich historical and cultural heritage as well as its economic and social development in recent years, expressing the hope that the visit would further enhance the delegation’s knowledge of the city and promote closer ties between the two sides.


Acting Consul General Kyle Curd expressed his sincere appreciation for the hospitality extended by the city. He noted that the visit, featuring on-site inspections and in-depth exchanges, enabled the delegation to gain a comprehensive understanding of Jiujiang’s economic and social development as well as its cultural characteristics, laying a solid foundation for expanding future cooperation and exchanges in areas such as education and culture.
