From April 21 to 22, a delegation of 11 members led by Hannu Takkula, Governor of the Lapland Region of Finland, visited Jiujiang. On April 21, Jiang Wending, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jiujiang Municipal Committee and Mayor of Jiujiang, met with the delegation. Tu Anbo, Executive Vice President of the Jiangxi Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, along with city leaders Chen Shuilian and Ouyang Xinhua, and Olli Rainio, Chairman of the Lapland Council, attended related events.

On behalf of the CPC Jiujiang Municipal Committee and the Jiujiang Municipal Government, Jiang Wending extended a warm welcome to Hannu Takkula and his delegation and briefed them on Jiujiang's development. He noted that China and Finland enjoy a long-standing friendship underpinned by a solid foundation of mutual trust. The Lapland Region and Jiangxi Province maintain close ties and have officially established the sister province/region relationship, marking an important milestone in bilateral exchanges. As a key gateway for opening up in Jiangxi Province, Jiujiang City boasts rich historical and cultural heritage, a favorable location, and a sound ecological environment. The city is highly complementary with the Lapland Region in terms of resource endowments and industrial development, offering broad prospects for cooperation. He expressed the hope that, building on the newly established partnership, both sides would further expand economic and trade links, deepen people-to-people exchanges, and play an active role in advancing China–Finland relations at the local level.
Hannu Takkula said that the visit to Jiujiang was motivated by the city's growing reputation. He spoke highly of Jiujiang's profound cultural heritage and solid industrial foundation, noting that the two sides enjoy broad potential for cooperation in areas such as mineral resources, industrial collaboration, and talent development. He expressed the hope that the newly established partnership would serve as a starting point for enhancing exchanges at all levels and promoting complementary advantages and mutually beneficial outcomes.
During their stay in Jiujiang, the delegation visited Jiangxi Polytechnic University and witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Jiangxi Polytechnic University and Lapland University of Applied Sciences. They also paid a visit to the Yangtze River National Cultural Park (Jiujiang Section) and Lushan City.
