In recent years, Jiujiang City has focused on developing new quality productive forces and expanding the hydrogen energy industry. With an emphasis on applications that benefit people’s livelihoods and industrial agglomeration, Jiujiang has steadily improved its full-chain hydrogen energy industrial ecosystem, thanks to favorable policies and technological innovation. It has consolidated its position as a pioneer in hydrogen economy development in Jiangxi Province, and is striving to make the hydrogen energy industry a new driving force for high-quality development in northern Jiangxi.

As the only city in Jiangxi Province with large-scale operation of hydrogen-fueled buses, Jiujiang currently runs 15 hydrogen fuel cell buses and 15 hydrogen-fueled logistics vehicles in regular service. The province’s first hydrogen fuel bus route and first hydrogen refueling station have been successively completed and put into operation. These efforts have effectively improved residents’ travel experience and built a distinctive brand for hydrogen energy applications in people’s daily lives.

Jiujiang has steadily advanced the layout of a complete hydrogen energy industry chain. Leading local enterprises produce over 500,000 tons of hydrogen annually, supported by hydrogen purification facilities that provide a stable and low-cost supply for hydrogen applications. Several provincial-level flagship hydrogen demonstration projects have been implemented, achieving integrated applications across industry, energy, and transportation, with many outcomes included in provincial pilot programs.

The city has pursued targeted chain-based investment promotion, bringing together a number of industry-leading enterprises. Related demonstration projects have been successfully selected for the national list of green and low-carbon technologies. In addition, Jiujiang has introduced 19 supporting measures and 11 special subsidy policies, and established a RMB 10 billion industry guidance fund, injecting strong momentum into the development of the hydrogen energy sector.

Leveraging technology and innovation platforms as well as industry-university-research collaboration, Jiujiang continues to tackle core technologies in the hydrogen energy industry, and a number of local enterprises have been recognized as national high-tech enterprises.
