Jiujiang Delegation Visits Yaroslavl to Advance China-Russia Educational Cooperation

At the invitation of the City of Yaroslavl, Russia, a five-member delegation led by Chen Qi, Director General of the Jiujiang Municipal Education Bureau, visited Yaroslavl from May 28 to 31 to promote educational exchanges and cooperation. The visit was part of efforts to implement the Joint Statement of the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation on Deepening the China-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination for the New Era and contribute to the objectives of the China-Russia Years of Education. During the visit, the delegation also attended celebrations marking the 1,016th anniversary of Yaroslavl’s founding.

During the visit, Chen Qi conveyed Jiujiang’s congratulations on Yaroslavl’s City Day celebrations and expressed the city’s willingness to further deepen practical cooperation with Yaroslavl, particularly in education and other key areas, under the framework of local cooperation between China and Russia.

The visit produced a number of tangible outcomes. Education authorities from the two cities held extensive discussions and formally signed a Protocol of Intentions, establishing a regular mechanism for educational exchanges and collaboration.

School-to-school cooperation was also expanded. Jiujiang No. 3 High School and Educational Center – School 49 reached a cooperation agreement, while Jiujiang No. 1 High School and Educational Center – School 80 with Profound Learning of English, Tongwen High School and Pushkin School, and Jiujiang Foreign Language School and Gymnasium No. 3 of the City of Yaroslavl all agreed to advance collaboration in areas including student and teacher exchanges, curriculum sharing, professional development for educators, and online sister-classroom programs, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.

Looking ahead, Jiujiang and Yaroslavl will continue to promote practical exchange programs, including mutual visits by teachers and students and joint study camps. Through these initiatives, the two sides aim to build a model for local-level educational cooperation between China and Russia and further strengthen the people-to-people bonds that underpin the long-term friendship between the two countries.
