Since the start of this year, Jiujiang’s industrial economy has continued to gain momentum, with steady improvement in its overall strength. From January to April, the value-added growth of industrial enterprises above designated size reached 6.8%, up 2.7 percentage points from the first quarter and 2.3 percentage points above the provincial average. This ranked fifth in the province, three places higher than in the first quarter. Operating revenue of these enterprises grew by 8.6% year on year, an increase of 6.2 percentage points from the previous quarter, placing Jiujiang among the province’s top performers. Profits saw a sharp rise of 52% year on year, marking the highest growth rate in 55 months (or 4.6 years).
Among the nine key industrial sectors, four achieved double-digit revenue growth, becoming important engines of the city’s overall industrial expansion. Specifically:
The non-ferrous metal industry saw prices of tungsten, gold, silver, and other products surge, driving a growth rate of 68%.
The new energy sector, particularly the lithium battery industry, benefited from a robust market and registered a 35% growth.
The petrochemical industry experienced widespread price increases and output growth, achieving a 30% rise.
The electronic information industry, led by major enterprises continuously expanding production capacity, posted an 18% growth.
