From April 9 to 17, an education and sports delegation from Yaroslavl City, Russia visited Jiujiang, engaging in a series of cultural and sports exchange activities with local youth. During the visit, the delegation toured the Jiujiang Museum and Jiujiang Vocational University, where they explored exhibitions of cultural relics and experienced intangible cultural heritage activities, gaining a closer appreciation of traditional Chinese culture.

At the Jiujiang Museum, the delegation viewed collections of bronze ware, fine ceramics, ancient books, and calligraphy and paintings, gaining insight into Jiujiang’s historical development and rich cultural heritage as a hub city along the Yangtze River. They also took part in an intangible cultural heritage activity featuring bronze mirror rubbing. Under the guidance of museum staff, participants completed the rubbing process themselves, experiencing firsthand the craftsmanship and ingenuity of traditional Chinese artisanship.

At the Art Workshop of Jiujiang Vocational University, delegation members immersed themselves in hands-on experiences of pottery-making and tie-dyeing—both representative forms of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. In the pottery workshop, they worked with clay through kneading, shaping, and wheel-throwing, appreciating the delicacy and warmth of traditional craftsmanship. During the tie-dye session, plain fabric was transformed into unique blue-and-white patterns through binding, folding, and dyeing techniques, offering a vivid glimpse into the aesthetics and creativity of traditional Chinese textile art.

The delegation also attended the closing ceremony of the exchange program at Jiujiang First Middle School. Chen Qi, Secretary of the CPC Committee and Director of the Jiujiang Education Bureau, delivered remarks at the event. During the ceremony, young participants from Jiujiang and Yaroslavl cities presented performances, showcasing traditional songs and dances in national costumes and highlighting the distinctive cultural charm of China and Russia. The event concluded with a chorus of the classic Russian song Katyusha, creating a warm and memorable finale and symbolizing the sincere friendship between the two peoples.
